Tranmere Rovers have confirmed the signing of midfielder Sam Finley on a two-year contract following his departure from Bristol Rovers. This marks the first new signing of the summer for manager Nigel Adkins.

Finley, 31, brings a wealth of experience to Tranmere, having played in League One last season and gained promotion from League Two with Bristol Rovers in the 2021/22 season.

The Liverpool-born player began his EFL career with Accrington Stanley and also represented Fleetwood Town before his four-year stint with Bristol Rovers, where he made 121 appearances.

On joining Tranmere, Finley expressed his excitement: “I’m delighted. I came and met the gaffer last week, and we had a good chat as he showed me round the training ground.”

He highlighted his reasons for choosing Tranmere, stating, “The size of the club, the stadium and the fanbase, and being closer to home as well, with my family. It’s massively important for me.”

Manager Nigel Adkins welcomed the new addition, saying, “We are excited to welcome Sam Finley to Tranmere Rovers. As we continue to strengthen the squad for the journey ahead, the experienced central midfielder will add a very competitive drive to the team.”

Finley’s contract with Tranmere will begin on 1st July.
