Barrow sign young Everton forward Katia Kouyate
Barrow have announced the signing of forward Katia Kouyate on a three-year deal following his departure from Everton.
It marks the first signing under manager Stephen Clemence.
The 20-year-old striker began his journey with Everton at the age of eight, progressing through the youth ranks at Goodison Park.
He made appearances for the first team during their latest pre-season tour, scoring in a 2-1 victory against Swiss side Stade Nyonnais.
Manchester-born Kouyate, eligible to play for both England and Ivory Coast, has been a prominent figure in Everton's youth setup, including stints with the Under-18s and Under-23s teams.
Reflecting on his move to Barrow, Kouyate expressed his enthusiasm: “It feels good honestly, I can’t wait to get started and I just want to kick on now and show people what I’m about.”
He continued, “I can’t thank the club enough. It’s massive for the club to show the faith and confidence they have in me. Throughout my time here, I’ll be repaying them in the best way I can."
Kouyate described his playing style, stating, “I play anywhere across the front three but predominantly on the left or down the middle. I’m a quick and direct player who likes to take people on one versus one. I like to make things happen and I like to get myself on the scoreboard.”
