Rochdale sign winger Connor McBride on a two-year deal
Rochdale AFC have signed winger Connor McBride on a two-year contract after his tenure with Gateshead ended.
McBride, a former Celtic prospect, joined Gateshead last summer and made over 30 appearances, contributing to their sixth-place finish in the National League and their FA Trophy victory.
"First and foremost, Rochdale is a massive club," McBride stated. "They were in the league only a couple of years ago and have a good fanbase. Most importantly, the manager is the reason I joined."
He continued, "The way he sees the game is similar to how I see it. The style of play suits me and I can’t wait to work for him. It made it an easy decision for me to come. He wants to get the ball down and play, which suits me, and I’m looking forward to working with him."
McBride, 23, hails from Falkirk, Scotland, where he began his career before joining Celtic's Under-20 squad. Following a loan spell at Stenhousemuir, he moved to Blackburn Rovers in 2020 and played for their Under-21 side.
He was also part of the Queens Park team that secured promotion to the Scottish Championship during the 2021/22 season. After a stint with Raith Rovers, McBride signed with Gateshead, making 31 appearances in all competitions last season.
