Chesterfield sign left-back Lewis Gordon on one-year deal
Chesterfield have bolstered their defensive options with the signing of left-back Lewis Gordon on a one-year contract, with an option to extend.
Gordon joins the Spireites following the expiry of his contract with Bristol Rovers. Gordon, 23, made 22 appearances for Bristol Rovers in League One last season.
He expressed his excitement about joining Chesterfield, saying, "I’m delighted to be here, it’s a great club to come and be part of. The manager has spoken to me and given me confidence; I can’t wait to get going."
He added, "It’s a club on the up. I have no doubts that I can progress here and be part of something special. I’m still only young and have lots to learn and I feel this is a place I can do that under a good manager and lots of good coaches."
Gordon also looks forward to connecting with the fans, stating, "I’m looking forward to meeting the fans too – it seems like a fantastic fan base. I can’t wait to get going."
Gordon began his career at Watford, progressing through their academy and signing his first professional contract in 2018. Despite not making a first-team appearance for Watford, he gained experience on loan at St Albans City.
After leaving Watford in 2020, Gordon joined Brentford, where he made his first-team debut in the FA Cup and played regularly for the B team. Following his release from Brentford in 2022, he signed with Bristol Rovers, making 73 appearances over two seasons.
Gordon has also represented Scotland at the U17 and U19 levels.
