League Preview: Finn Harps -v- Wexford
FINN HARPS
Finn Harps will be seeking to maintain their strong season when they host Wexford at Finn Park on Friday night.
The Co Donegal side fell to a dismal 2-0 loss away to Kerry last weekend but were without a host of first-team players due to injury and family commitments.
And their boss Darren Murphy was keen to stress the positives ahead of Wexford’s visit to Ballybofey.
“We have never set any targets and I am a firm believer of taking each game as it comes,” Murphy told the Donegal Daily.
“To be sitting in a play-off position at the moment is huge for us and the big challenge now is can we stay there?
“Life can be a challenge and football can be a challenge, but when you strip it back we are seven points better off than this time last season.”
WEXFORD
Wexford boss James Keddy is hoping his side can kick on in the second half of the season and challenge for promotion.
The Slaneysiders slipped up last weekend against play-off rivals Bray Wanderers and are already 15 points behind leaders Cork City.
But they will take confidence from their impressive end to the 2023 season which saw them easily claim a top-five finish.
And Keddy said: “We went on a fantastic run last year but we were stronger defensively stronger.
“We had Luke Browne on loan who went away to Crystal Palace but the nature of football means you always look to strengthen in the window and that’s my job.”
Referee: Aaron O’Dowd.
