ST PATRICK’S ATHLETIC

St Patrick’s Athletic are still hunting their first league win of the Stephen Kenny era at Richmond Park – but they will be confident they can do so against Galway United.

The Saints secured the first win of Kenny’s tenure on Monday evening with a 3-0 Leinster Senior Cup win over Bray Wanderers.

But this will be a tough test for the Athletic after losses to Derry City (1-0) and Shelbourne (2-1) – and a late draw against Bohemians (2-2).

“We've got to look forward to going back to Richmond Park and playing at home in front of our fans on Friday and Monday,” Kenny said.

“We'll have to earn the right to play, we want to pass the ball the way the players can and try to get control, we're looking forward to the games.

“Galway United have had a fine season having got promoted last year, they've built on that, they are in very good form and deserve credit.

“It's the first of another three matches in a matches, we'll have to be at our best to get a result and that's what we'll be aiming to do.”

Conor Keeley is available again after suspension, but Ruairi Keating (concussion), Axel Sjoberg (hamstring) and Anto Breslin (hamstring) will all miss the match.

GALWAY UNITED

Galway United boss John Caulfield has called on his side to pay back their fans for their support this season when his side make the trip to Inchicore.

The Tribesmen have won three of their last four games – and have won their last two against Drogheda United (3-2) and Dundalk (2-0).

“Our supporters have been fantastic,” Caulfield said.

“The atmosphere at home and away from home, we’ve brought a really strong travelling group with us and they can see that the lads are giving everything on the pitch.”
