First Division Longford Town have unveiled the appointment of Wayne Groves as the club's new permanent first-team manager.

Dubliner Groves recently took charge of the Red and Black on an interim basis following the departure of former boss Stephen Henderson last month.

But he has impressed suitably in the role - leading them to morale-boosting wins over Kerry and Treaty United.

Groves also led De Town to impressive draws against Wexford and Athlone Town recently.

"I’d like to thank Jim Hanley and the rest of the committee for this opportunity to become manager of this great club," Groves said.

"In this, our 100th year, we will do our very best to have a team that we can all be proud of."

Groves has added to his backroom staff already, bringing in Garrett Dodrill as a first-team coach.

Dodrill has managed multiple academy sides across the League of Ireland including UCD, St Pat's and Drogheda United.

He has also managed in the Leinster Senor League.
