Noel King steps down as Dundalk manager
Premier Division side Dundalk have confirmed that boss Noel King has stepped down as first-team manager on medical grounds.
King was appointed as Oriel Park boss last month and oversaw their first league win of the season against Bohemians.
He also picked up a point at home to Shelbournen when in charge.
But he has opted to step aside ahead of Friday's game against Shamrock Rovers - with first-team coach Liam Burns stepping up to take interim charge.
A Dundalk statement read: “Noel King has informed the club that he will be stepping down as first-team manager with immediate effect due to medical reasons.
“We would like to thank Noel for his time with the club and we wish him and his family all the best in the future.
“Liam Burns will take charge of the team for the match with Shamrock Rovers on Friday night.
“The process of recruiting a new manager will begin immediately. The club will not be making any further comment at this time.”
