Lucan United have moved to within just six points of claiming the league title following a commanding 4-0 win over Bangor Celtic.

Keith Baker’s side have four games left to play and are guaranteed to win the division once they win two of their remaining fixtures - if closest challengers St Mochta’s win each of their remaining five ties.

But Lucan showed that they are more than capable of looking after their own business - as they did against Bangor.

And they did so with Jamie Doyle’s brace proving decisive at the Transport Club.

The former Shelbourne, UCD and Longford scored his 10th and 11th goals of the season - with Mark Byrne and Ryan Blake also getting in on the act.

St Mochta’s, however, are not going to give up their title without a fight.

But they had to withstand a spirited effort from Maynooth University Town to run out 3-2 victors.

Michael Scott, Stephen Donnelly and Glenn Shannon were all on target for Brian McCarthy’s men - with Callum Warfield and Evan Murphy netting for Maynooth.

The Co Kildare side remain three points clear of the drop with four games left to play.

Elsewhere, Bluebell United romped to a scintillating 4-0 win over KIllester-Donnycarney at Hadden Park.

Striker Joshua Ojelabi scored twice for the Bell, with Josh Doyle and Jack Savage also getting in on the act.

And at Greendale Park, Kilbarrack United thumped basement side Liffey Wanderers 5-0.

Ryan Fitzsimons, Aaron Humphries, Deiric Hyland, Mark Townley and Lewis Skelly all scored with Liffeys on the brink of relegation.

The Ringsend side have four games left to play and are nine points adrift of safety on 15 points.
