Bohemians manager Pat Fenlon has lauded the great character present in his side after their win over Sporting Fingal on Monday.

The win, which was Bohemians’ first in six matches, came after goals from Paul Keegan and Gareth McGlynn as well as a solid defensive display.

It helped to move them onto 14 points from nine games played and could act as the turning point to their league campaign.

"I thought defensively we were quite solid and we kept the ball well in the second half," said Fenlon.

"We didn’t play that well in the first half and scored two, and played a lot better in the second half and didn’t score any. I suppose that’s the way football is.

"But I was pleased with them [Bohemians] tonight, I thought the performance was excellent."

Speaking about Bohs' indifferent run, Fenlon was somewhat disparaging about the negative perceptions of his team's form so far this season.

"We all know we haven’t been playing well but I don’t think we’ve been playing as bad as people say either," he said.

"On Friday I thought they showed great character, great character against Linfield and great character tonight to win the game."

The Bohemians fans almost occupied the entire away end in the Morton stadium and Fenlon was delighted with the turnout by the Gypsies supporters.

"Travelling support this and last year has been fantastic. At home we get a different reaction with certain people but I think the travelling support has been tremendous," said Fenlon.

"I was delighted for them [after the win] because I know it’s not nice losing matches.”

This season has seen erratic form not only from Bohs, but also from most of the other title contenders. Fenlon acknowledged the unpredictable nature of the league, but claimed that teams that play his side often seem to lose the week after.

"I think when you look at teams that have played us, the following match they seem to stuggle," he explained.

"That shows you, maybe, the level of work you need to put in to match us. It's a funny league because you can’t predict results."
