League Preview: Treaty United -v- Wexford
TREATY UNITED
Treaty United boss Tommy Barrett has called on his side to cut out ‘silly mistakes’ when they host Wexford on Friday night (kick-off is at 7.45pm).
The Shannonsiders are winless in their last nine league games in a run that stretches as far back as March. They were defeated by Athlone Town at home on Monday and have a tough test at home to James Keddy’s men.
“Wexford are a good side with a lot of full-time players who are well able to grind out results but they’re conceding a lot of goals,” said Barrett.
“We haven’t conceded too many and have a good defensive record so if we can keep a clean sheet we’ve got a good chance
“We’re well in games but we need to cut out the silly mistakes and concentrate on putting the ball in the net.”
WEXFORD
As suggested by Barrett, Wexford know they must stop conceding too many goals if they are to challenge for promotion this season.
Keddy’s side have given up 24 goals this season – which is the second-worst defensive record in the First Division.
But they will take solace from their recent 1-1 draw against Cork City at Turner’s Cross on Monday.
Kaylem Hartnett – an Ireland under-17 international – netted for the Slaneysiders as they picked up a point on the road. They remain just one point off fifth-placed Finn Harps.
