League Preview: Kerry -v- UCD
KERRY
Kerry boss Conor McCarthy insists his side have nothing to fear when they host UCD on Friday night (kick-off is at 7.45pm).
The Kingdom drew against UCD when the sides last met at the Belfield Bowl.
But McCarthy’s side lost away to basement side Longford Town last weekend and will be looking for a reaction.
“Obviously we would love to get a good result on Friday at home,” the boss said. “We know UCD are very good but we need to put on a big performance and show what we are about.
“Usually, 9 times out of 10 when we do that we get a positive result
and we saw that during the unbeaten run. But it takes a squad effort and a good performance and hopefully, the result can come with that.
“We don't fear anyone coming to Mounthawk Park and always fancy our chances at home.”
UCD
UCD will be keen to bounce back from Monday’s shock loss at home to Cobh Ramblers when they face Kerry at Mounthawk Park.
The Students took an early lead against the Rams through Jake Doyle but were unable to hold out and claim a win.
In fact, they ended up losing the game with Jack Larkin and Matthew McKevitt on target for Gary Hunt’s side.
But the Students have been boosted in recent days with the return of right-back Alex Dunne from injury. Ronan Finn and Harvey O’Brien remain out though.
Referee: Lucas Keating.
