League Preview: Wexford -v- Athlone Town
WEXFORD
Wexford will be seeking to continue their push for promotion on Friday night when they host Athlone Town at Ferrycarrig Park (kick-off is at 7.45pm).
James Keddy’s side picked up a morale-boosting 2-1 win over Longford Town last weekend, with Mikie Rowe netting a brace.
And the victory was even more significant with a host of key first-team players out injured.
Striker Aaron Dobbs, Sean McHale and Aaron Robinson were all out last weekend and are likely to miss out again against Athlone.
Prospect Max Kelly is also expected to miss out again.
ATHLONE TOWN
Athlone Town have won four of their last five league games and will be bidding to maintain their playoff push when they visit the South-East.
But they have to contend without the services of defender Noah van Geenen through injury.
There are also doubts surrounding the fitness of key players Oisin Duffy and Aaron Connolly.
Jarlath Jones is suspended but Dylan Hand has returned from a ban.
But boss Dario Castelo insists his side are training well and are looking forward to a tough test against Wexford.
“We are training well and the hard work continues,” he said.
“It is a long season, so we are taking each game as it comes. We have three games over the next eight days so it’s important to manage the squad as we have a few players carrying an injury.”
Referee: Lucas Keating.
