Tommy Barrett: ‘We might have a big injury list but we have to deal with it’

Following a second consecutive loss, extending his side’s winless run to eight, Treaty United manager Tommy Barrett was frustrated after Friday evening’s 2-0 First Division loss to UCD.
Missing marquee forward Enda Curran alongside Yoyo Mahdy, Croom native Leon Kirrane made his first league start as he led the line against the Students.
He came close to scoring a spectacular bicycle kick from the edge of the box to level the game just after half-time.
Treaty were a goal down within the first minute and Hugh Parker put the game to bed in the sixty-eight minute after calamitous defending from the Shannonsiders.
“We’re playing a good style of football and we’re creating good chances but we're missing that target man in Enda and that forces us to have to play differently,” he conceded.
“The lads are being forced to play up through the lines but we’re too passive and we’re not penetrating.
“You can’t concede silly goals like we did tonight and not take your chances and expect to win games.
“We might have a big injury list but we have to deal with it, what’s important now is that we don’t feel sorry for ourselves because we need to get out of this rut together.”
Treaty now face the daunting task of a long trip to Ballybofey next Friday where they will play off chasing Finn Harps
“Harps are a very physical big side,” Barrett added.
“It was a terrible game when we played them last but I would expect it to be a very physical battle next week.
“Hopefully, we can just get back to basics and try to get a result, that’s all we can do.”
