League Preview: Treaty United -v- UCD
TREATY UNITED
Treaty United will be looking to end their winless run of seven league games when they host UCD on Friday night (kick-off is at 7.45pm).
The Shannonsiders last win came on March 1st against Kerry - but they have already defeated UCD this season at the UCD Bowl.
But last weekend’s narrow loss against Bray Wanderers will sting after they laid siege to the Wanderers goal late on as they searched for an equaliser.
Sub Leon Kirrane scored for Treaty but it was not enough to see them avoid a 2-1 loss following goals from Bray Wanderers pair Peter Grogan and Kieran Cruise.
“We’ve been OK overall at home this season - we beat Cobh and drew against Cork. But we just have to get that consistent performance for 90 minutes,” Barrett told Limerick’s 95FM.
“If we do that, we will beat teams. We’re close enough to getting them.
“It’s a long season and there are still 26 games to go. I feel that if we are performing well, the results will come.
“The momentum can swing in roundabouts and you have to be at it for 90 minutes. We’re still searching for that and hopefully it will come in the next few weeks.”
UCD
UCD visit the Markets Field on Friday night looking to keep pace with leaders Cork City.
The Students have enjoyed a positive run of results in recent weeks and last weekend’s 3-2 win over Wexford has given them a platform to build on.
And their run has been made even more impressive with experienced star Ronan Finn continuing to miss out on action with a knee injury.
Finn is expected to return next month but boss Willie O’Connor will have been buoyed his young side’s emergence.
Ciaran Behan has been their standout performer thus far and is second in the First Division goalscoring charts with four goals scored. Only Cork City’s Jack Doherty has netted more.
Referee: Michael Connolly.
