Champions League semi-final wrap: Lyon stage remarkable comeback v PSG while Chelsea beat Barcelona

Olympique Lyonnais came into the 80^th minute two goals down in their Champions League semi-final first leg at home to PSG. A three goal six minute salvo though means they will take a one goal lead into next weekend’s second leg at the Parc des Princes.

Two goals either side of half time from Marie-Antoinette Katato had put Paris in the driving seat in the tie, only fpr the wheels to come off late on in the OL Stadium.

Kadidiatou Dani, Melchie Dumornay and Amel Majri scored to earn Lyon, the eight time European champions, a remarkable 3-2 win. It was the first time Les Lyonnaises had ever overturned a two goal deficit in the competition.

In the earlier semi-final, their wasn’t quite the drama but Emma Hayes’s Chelsea side will bring a 1-0 lead back with them from Barcelona for the second leg. Sjoeke Nusken set up Erin Cuthbert to score the only goal of the game in the Stadi Olimpic. The tie will be decided at Stamford Bridge next Saturday.

It the first time in eight years that Barca failed to score at home in a Champions League tie.

Speaking to UEFA.com, the Chelsea boss wasn’t getting too far ahead of herself with the first leg victory. 

"It's just half-time,” said Hayes. “Nobody should get carried away with that and, to be honest, I'm disappointed we didn't get the second goal. It's a difficult place to come and they carried out the game plan I asked them to do – so from that perspective, I'm happy. 

“Barcelona are a phenomenal team who make it difficult with their quick passing game. They try to pull you out of position to create gaps in bad areas and I thought we were really compact for large periods of the game."
