League Preview: Kerry -v- Athlone Town

KERRY

Kerry boss Conor McCarthy has called on his side to maintain their good run of form when they host Athlone Town on Friday night (kick-off is at 7.45pm).

The Kingdom are unbeaten in their last seven, claiming six draws and one win.

“To be fair, every game we look at now we feel we have a good chance of winning it,” McCarthy said this week.

“If we do all the right things between now and the game to approach it correctly with the right attitude we have a great chance.

“But, if those things are slightly off you can be found out fairly quickly.

“To be fair to the players, their attitude has been very good, the way they’ve trained and applied themselves has been top class and that is evident every Friday night.

“But like that the levels of consistency need to be there week in and week out and if they aren’t, you can be found out quickly in this league.”

ATHLONE TOWN

Athlone Town boss Dario Castelo is expecting a tough test for his side against Kerry at Mounthawk Park.

The Town are winless away from home this season but come into Friday’s game off the back of a morale-boosting 1-0 win over Finn Harps last weekend.

But they will be without defender Dylan Hand due to suspension.

“We come into the game with a good result and performance from the last,” Castelo told Midlands 103fm.

“We are going to cry and continue that performance but we know the difficulties of the game.

“Kerry are very good this season and have a very positive attitude so it will be a great game.”

Referee: Ian O’Keefe.
