League Preview: Treaty United -v- Kerry

TREATY UNITED

Treaty United will be looking to put an end to a wretched three-game losing run when they host Kerry on Friday night (kick-off is at 7.45pm).

After an impressive start, the Shannonsiders have lost to Wexford, Finn Harps and Athlone Town in recent weeks.

But the late loss to Wexford was a kick in the teeth to a side who are already missing Colin Conroy, Callum McNamara and Darren Nwankwo through injury.

“Kerry are on a good run of form and are no longer the whipping boys,” assistant manager Dave Rooney said when speaking to Limerick’s 95FM.

“It will be a good game but this is where we need the fans the most.

“It’s great when you have fans at games when you are winning but we are after losing three on the bounce.

“We need a big crowd on Friday to get behind us.”

Callum McNamara, Darren Nwankwo and Colin Conroy are all rated as doubts for Treaty.

KERRY

Kerry boss Conor McCarthy will be hoping that his side can build on last weekend’s thumping 3-0 win over Longford Town.

The Kingdom are also unbeaten in six games as a result of their success over Longford.

But McCarthy expects a stiff test at the Markets Field.

“It’s going to be a really tough game up there,” he said. “What Treaty have created up there makes it a very hard place to go to.

“Every team will tell you that no matter what level they are at, whether it be the Premier Division teams that go there or the First Division sides, everyone finds it hard.

“So we know exactly what we are going into. They have huge support and we need to be bang at it from the first to the ninety-fifth or sixth minute like we have been for the last number of games. Every week is a bigger challenge but one we are looking forward to.”
