Europa League Wrap: Liverpool suffer 3-0 first leg quarter-final loss to Atalanta

The shock result of the night in the Europa League quarter-final first legs was Atalanta’s 3-0 win in Anfield with Liverpool’s hopes of reaching the final to be held in Dublin now in tatters.

Gianluca Scamacca scored twice – with his first goal not looking pretty on review  for Ireland goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher – with Mario Pasalic scoring the third.

In the all-Italian quarter-final, Roma won 1-0 in the San Siro against AC Milan with Paulo Dybala supplying the assist for a 17th minute goal from Gianluca Mancini.

Bayer Leverkusen’s remarkable unbeaten season continues with a 2-0 home win over West Ham United. Two late goal from Jonas Hofmann and Victor Boniface puts them in the box seat for the second leg  to come in the London Olympic Stadium.

The final quarter-final saw Benfica beat Marseille 2-1.
