Shelbourne's Will Jarvis has been awarded the SSE Airtricity/Soccer Writers Ireland Player of the Month for March, following an exceptional performance that saw his team clinch five victories.

The Hull City loanee was pivotal in ensuring Shelbourne's top position in the SSE Airtricity Men's Premier Division, having started all five matches and scoring three goals.

His performance included a double in the 2-1 victory against St Patrick's Athletic at Richmond Park.

"The team have been brilliant to start the season off. I'm glad to be a part of it so far," Jarvis remarked.

He also highlighted his scoring streak in three Dublin derbies as a significant personal achievement, adding, "For me as well, obviously, last season when I came my statistics weren't as great but to score in three Dublin derbies and to win the games as well, it's brilliant for me."

Jarvis returned to Tolka Park in January for his second loan spell and credits his smooth transition to the familiar environment and team dynamics.

"The lads and staff welcomed me brilliantly and I knew most of the lads, there are a few new players and they've all settled in as well," he said.

In the Player of the Month poll, Jarvis emerged as a popular choice among SWI members, outpacing Derry City's Patrick Hoban and teammate Paddy Barrett, who finished second and third, respectively.

This marks Shelbourne's third Player of the Month win in four months, a significant turnaround after 12 years without claiming the accolade.

Jarvis's standout performance at Richmond Park was a personal highlight, where his two goals secured a critical win.

"I scored both goals to win. For Shels fans and for us as well, it was a massive game, big three points," he shared.

The competition for the monthly award was fierce, with players like Max Mata of Sligo Rovers, and Joshua Honohan and Darragh Burns of Shamrock Rovers also making the shortlist.
