League Preview: Cork City -v- Cobh Ramblers

CORK CITY

Leaders Cork City hope to extend their 100% home record when they play host to neighbours Cobh at Turners Cross on Friday at 19:45.

They saw their lead cut to a single point after a draw away to Wexford on Monday afternoon.

Jaden Umah had written himself into the record books by becoming City’s youngest ever goal scorer as they dominated the first half.  They were left hanging on after the concession of an equaliser in the second period though.

Assistant Manager Jamie Hamill accepts they could have done better: “I thought we had a really good 45 on Monday but for the second we didn’t really stand up and be counted. Especially when we were ahead.

"The game is never finished at that stage, regardless of who you are playing against. The big thing is that we are still unbeaten.”     

Jack Doherty will be expected to return against his former side having missed the game in Ferrycarrig Park.  

COBH RAMBLERS 

Last year’s beaten play-off finalists look to find their form as they make the short trip to take on the league leaders.

Monday’s game with Longford proved to be more dropped points as they have now failed to win their last four games.  

David Bosnjak rescued a point with a second-half goal against the bottom placed team on what was their first game at the renovated St. Coleman’s Park.   

Gary Hunt is calling on fans to make themselves heard: “Yeah looking back to Monday it was fantastic, it was so good to see. For some of them to get down to Turners Cross and get behind the lads would be a huge boost to us. They feed off that off energy. You can see the response especially in the second-half when we were so close to getting a winner. The energy that the fans bring will only make us better”.

The club has announced that physio Fionn O’ Connor has left the club as he is relocating to the UK.

This is Cobh’s third game of the season already at Turners Cross. It will be their first as the away side though as they were using the ground whilst work was taking place at their own ground. They will be looking for their first win as the previous two finished in a draw and a loss.
