League Preview: Kerry -v- Cobh Ramblers
KERRY
Kerry will be looking to build on last weekend’s impressive draw away to Athlone Town tonight when they host Cobh Ramblers at Mounthawk Park (kick-off is at 7.45pm).
The Kingdom are without a home league victory since their introduction to the League of Ireland First Division.
But they have come close recently - and a draw away to Athlone Town underlined their progress.
Daniel Okwute even gave them a lead at the Co Westmeath venue before Dylan Hand salvaged a point for the hosts.
“Cobh are a very good side,” boss Conor McCarthy said. “They’ve started the season well to be fair to them. That was a great win for them last week in Ballybofey against Finn Harps which is a tough place to go and to take home 3 points is huge.
“It’s going to be a difficult game, it will be close. I’d imagine it will be one or two moments that could sway the game either way and hopefully, we will be on the right side of it this week.”
Jack Kavanagh and Valerii Dolia are expected to remain out for Kerry.
COBH RAMBLERS
Cobh Ramblers too will be seeking to build on a strong display last weekend when they travel to Tralee.
Ramblers claimed an impressive 1-0 victory over Finn Harps last weekend to get their campaign up and running.
“I’ve always said it since I came into the group – they are a good honest group,” boss Gary Hunt told his club’s media team last week, via the Cork Echo.
“Maybe they have lost players from last season and they never once talked or moaned about that. They only speak about what is here in the building. This is the character of the group and it is going to get us points this season, and we have quality.
“This result will mean nothing if we don’t kick on and build on it. We’ll enjoy the trip home and our attention will turn to Kerry next week.”
Referee: Daniel Murphy.
