Let’s be having you – Girls in Green to take on Lionesses at Carrow Road
While Ireland will host their EURO 2025 qualifier with England in their national stadium on Lansdowne Road, there will be no walk up Wembley Way for the Girls in Green in the return fixture against the reigning European champions.
The English FA confirmed the venues for their home qualifiers, with Ireland now set to take on the England in Norwich City’s Carrow Road venue on Friday July 12th .
Sweden will get the chance to play England at Wembley where the English side beat Germany in the EURO 2022 Final. The Lionesses will play France at St. James’ Park – the first time for the women’s side to play in Newcastle United’s home ground.
England boss Sarina Wiegman speaking to englandfootball.com said: “Wembley holds such special memories and I'm delighted we can begin our EURO qualifiers at home against Sweden.
"I’m sure the fans are looking forward to the games and it’s really nice that we’re playing our three home games in really special venues in different parts of England.
“Wherever we play in the country we have such fantastic support and I’m sure these games in London, Newcastle and Norwich will be no different. We will need to show up and perform but there’s no doubt the fans can help us.”
The Republic of Ireland will begin their qualifying quest for the EUROs, set for Switzerland next year, with an away trip to France on Friday, April 5th before returning to Dublin to host England at the Aviva Stadium on Tuesday, April 9th.
Next up Gleeson’s side will host Sweden at the Aviva Stadium on Friday, May 31st ahead of travelling away to take on the same opponent on Tuesday, June 4th. The Swedes have yet to confirm the venue but Ireland played in Gothenburg in the qualification for the last World Cup (drawing 1-1).
After their trip to England, Ireland will finish their Group qualifiers against France on Tuesday, July 16th in a venue that will be confirmed soon – but is expected to be Tallaght Stadium (as Shamrock Rovers are away that day).
