Week 8
Due to UCD's game being brought forward to Thursday night, punters
must run to the shops to get on the main selection today, which is
Sporting Fingal to get the better of UCD tonight.
It will be an interesting clash of styles with UCD likely to be playing five across the middle with Ciaran Kilduff leading the attacking, while Fingal will have Gary O'Neill spearheading a three-pronged attack.
Long gone are the days of 4-4-2 where the four midfielders only got to see the ball flying over their heads.
UCD started the season very well with a great win in Drogheda and were unlucky to lose to Bohs. However, since that game they've only notched one league goal in five games, drawing three blanks in a row.
Fingal have no such scoring problems having scored the most goals in the league and got back to winning ways against Dundalk after three successive draws. Ronan Finn has been very influential in getting to the top of the league last week and he can torment his former club tonight and lead Fingal back to the top after Pat's knocked them off midweek.
The live game tomorrow night pits St Pat's against Sligo Rovers for the third time in quick succession and Pat's have won the previous two. To be fair to RTE, they've had a good spread of teams live on the box so far this season and last week's game was an absolute cracker.
Tomorrow's game is unlikely to be quite as thrilling but Sligo will be defending the league's only unbeaten record against the league leaders. It's a tough one to call but at a push I'd say Sligo's unbeaten run will come to an end.
One final bet for the weekend could be to get on the name that is on everyone's lips at Terryland Park to score first against Drogheda. Karl Sheppard showed against Bohs what a pacy player he is and up against Drogheda's defence he will surely get chances.
Punter's Picks:
Sporting Fingal to beat UCD - 5/10
St Pat's to beat Sligo - 1/10
Karl Sheppard to score 1st in Galway v Drogheda - 2/10
