Kane and Mbappe braces earn Bayern and PSG places in Champions League quarter-final
Both Bayern and Paris Saint-Germain breezed through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League on Tuesday evening.
In San Sebastian, PSG won their last 16 second leg 2-1 to eliminate Real Sociedad 4-1 on aggregate. Kylian Mbappé scored twice with Mikel Meron scoring a late consolation goal for Real Sociedad.
Mbappé got the player of the match award with UEFA's Technical Observer Panel noting: "He is the leader for Paris, through his attacking and tackling. He maintained the pressure on Real Sociedad all through the game."
Meanwhile the German side overcame a 1-0 first leg loss to Lazio to win the tie 3-1 on aggregate as they defeated the Italian side 3-0 in the second leg in Munich thanks to two goals from Harry Kane and a Thomas Mueller header.
Kane was named player of the match with UEFA’s Technical Observer Panel noting: "He made the difference with his clinical instinct of knowing where to be and what to do to score goals.
"He was always a focal point available for his side to set their attacks. His work rate was excellent and this contributed to a complete performance."
