Sinclair Armstrong scores winner in ‘massive’ victory as QPR defeat league leaders Leicester City: ‘Hopefully this will be the start of something’
Irish international striker Sinclair Armstrong scored the winner for QPR against Leicester City on Saturday as the Rs gained a valuable three points in their Championship relegation battle while inflicting a bloody nose to the Foxes and their promotion ambitions.
The win against the league leaders means the Hoops are in 19th position – their -12 goal difference keeps them above the last relegation play-off spot held by Stoke City (with -15). There are four teams on 38 points including QPR.
“The win is very important as you see the position we are in,” said Sinclair speaking to his club’s media team.

Illias Chair had given the Hoops the half-time lead in Leicester and Armstrong came off the bench in the 55th minute to double the lead for the Hoops with his first touch two minutes later.
Ben Nelson pulled a goal back but QPR held on for their third league win in a row.
“How long was on for the pitch for? I don’t know, five seconds!?! The gaffer always says for the subs to have an impact and that is what I did.
“It was an unbelievalbe feeling to score in that end (in front of 3,000 away fans).
“Hopefully this will be the start of something. It is up to me to keep ticking away. I always want to have an impact on the game.
“This is massive victory coming here to the league leaders and getting three points at King Power stadium - it is an unbelievalbe feeling.”

Armstrong signed for QPR from Shamrock Rovers in 2020, the club where he made his first team debut as a 15-year-old player in the FAI Cup in August 2018.
The striker earned a senior Ireland international cap when he came off the bench for the Boys in Green against the Netherlands in the Aviva Stadium last September.
Speaking after Saturday’s win over Leiceester, his manager Martí Cifuentes said about Armstrong: “I'm so happy for him. I think it was his first touch!
"Sincs is a player with extreme skill and in certain game scenarios, he is very important for the team. Today, he showed that - what a start to the game for him.”
