Following Waterford United's 3-2 win against Tramore AFC in the Munster Senior Cup quarter-final, manager Stephen Henderson spoke of his unhappiness with the display and the previous defeat to Monaghan United.

Goals from David Grincell, Willie John Kiely and George O’Callaghan secured the win for the Blues. The game however proved to be very tough for the Airtricity First Division leaders

"Really disappointed with our own performance. [We were in] second gear all night. Munster Senior Cup or not. We're looking to get things right and I don't think that was good enough from us tonight," said Henderson.

“With Monaghan we held the ball a lot but we never actually hurt anybody. We're here to try win every game and when we don't win then we are apologetic for it.

“We can never question the work rate, we worked hard again tonight, it's just at times our choice is letting us down, we tend to be giving the ball away a lot lately.

"We understand we’re not going to win every game, but tonight it just wasn't good enough. I think we are all in there and we accept that we didn’t play well tonight. We have our standards and we didn't reach them.

"We're not a million miles away from it, but when we get there, we'll be a very good side."

O’Callaghan started his first game for his new club in the game and topped it off with a stunning 25-yard strike to secure the win, which pleased Henderson.

"You can see George has a bit to go, he’s working hard on his fitness," said the Blues boss.

"The goal was tremendous. I suppose George would be one of the players tonight who the majority of his passes reached the player it was intended for."
