League Preview: UCD -v- Treaty United
UCD
UCD will be chasing their first home league win since June when they host Treaty United at the Belfield Bowl on Friday night (kick-off is at 7.45pm).
The Students last league victory at the Bowl arrived against Sligo Rovers under former boss Andy Myler.
But they have impressed already this season, having already defeated Bray Wanderers on the opening night with ten-men.
Alex Dunne was sent off midway through the first half but goals from Ciaran Behan and Harvey O’Brien saw them over the line at the Carlisle Grounds.
Former Shamrock Rovers youth Dunne will subsequently miss the Students next three league games as a result of his straight red.
But they will be reeling somewhat following their defeat in the Collingwood Cup semi-final to UL earlier this week.
The Sky Blues were favourites to land the third-level colleges crown but bowed out against the eventual champions in the last-four.
TREATY UNITED
Similarly to UCD, Treaty United visit the capital in relatively good spirits after their opening night 3-1 victory against Cobh Ramblers.
Tommy Barrett’s men impressed in front of a near 2,000 strong home crowd - with new signing Thomas Considine the star of the show.
The former Wexford man netted a brace for United as they soared on the opening night.
And they did so without marquee signing Yoyo Mahdy who is nursing a slight injury complaint.
Mahdy - formerly of UCD - remains a doubt for this week, alongside veteran forward Enda Curran.
Ex-Galway United defender Evan O’Connor is also rated as a doubt for the trip to UCD.
Referee: Ian O’Keefe.
