O'Neill thriving in new attacking role
Davin O'Neill has fired in five goals already this season for Cork City Foras Co-op and he believes it all comes down to the new role that he is playing in.
The talented attacker was used primarily as a winger for Cork City last season, although he has been playing further forward this campaign for the newly-formed club.
O'Neill credits manager Tommy Dunne with allowing him to play in his best position and hopes to keep scoring as The Leesiders climb up the First Division table.
"I definitely prefer it. It shows too because I've had more chances and there are goals coming from those chances," said O'Neill.
"I obviously still have to do the defensive part of it as well, but I've pushed on a small bit more.
"Playing in the First Division allows you to do that where as in the Premier, you just wouldn't get that same time or space.
"Tommy [Dunne] said from the start that he wanted us to play and that he didn't want the old 'route one' stuff.
"You have to admire him for that because it's the First Division and not many teams do that, but he's made it quite clear what he wants and it's great to have a manager like that because that's all we as players want at the end of the day."
