Missed chances leave French frustrated
Mervue United manager Tom French felt that his team deserved more from their 2-1 defeat to Longford Town last week and thinks his players need to be more deadly in their finishing.
Despite only picking up a single point from seven games played so far, there have been many positive signs to suggest that the Galway club are making improvements.
French reckons his side were unlucky not to have secured at least a point from their clash with Longford and they would have done so if his team had converted their chances in front of goal.
"I felt that we dominated the first 45 minutes but couldn’t get that crucial goal to go ahead and give us a grip on it," said French.
"As with any game if you don’t take your chances you get punished and that’s what happened. Longford got into the game second-half and caught us with two set pieces.
"We were all gutted with the result as this was definitely a game that we should have came home with something."
