BOHEMIANS

Bohemians boss Declan Devine has called on his side to rise to the challenge against a ‘formidable’ Sligo Rovers at Dalymount Park this evening (kick-off is at 7.45pm).

Former Derry City boss Devine missed out on European qualification last season and lost the FAI Cup final in November to St Patrick’s Athletic.

But the Gypsies have been able to add to their squad since then with Rob Cornwall returning to the fold.

Estonians Martin Miller, Sten Reinkort and Martin Linander have also joined the club.

“I’ve gone to watch Sligo twice in recent weeks and they will be a formidable opposition,” Devine told his club’s media team this week. “It will be a tough game.

“In the opening four or five games of every campaign, teams are still finding out about each other and there is usually little between the teams.

“Sligo will be looking forward to coming up here but we will be ready for the game and hope to get off to a positive start.”

James McManus and Keith Buckley remain out for Bohs, with the latter expected to miss most of the season.

SLIGO ROVERS

Sligo Rovers boss John Russell will be without John Mahon for his side’s trip to Dalymount Park.

The defender injured his Achilles tendon in pre-season and is likely to miss most of the season at the Showgrounds.

But the Bit O’Red boss will be hoping that his charges can rise to the challenge in his absence.

“We’re looking forward to getting started,” he told his club’s website. “We have a lot of new players in and I’m happy with where we are in terms of how they have integrated as a group.#

“It is a real boost to get Max back to the club. We know there is a big crowd travelling up which is great to see, and we’re excited to get going.”

Referee: Robert Harvey.
