Extratime.com staff predictions - 2024 First Division

It’s that time of the year again, the League of Ireland First Division season is upon us with the first games set to kick off on Friday night.

With the start of the season this week comes the annual extratime.com staff predictions as we attempt to predict the outcome of the second tier once again.

Last year we predicted that Waterford would claim the First Division title and thought that eventual winners Galway United would come second… 

But we correctly tipped a play-off finish for Wexford – but failed miserably in our predictions for Cobh Ramblers and Athlone Town’s seasons. 

Saying that, 2024 gives us a new chance to get things right - and try to not make a fool of ourselves again!

We have predicted a swift return to the top-flight for Cork City after their relegation while UCD are set to come second, according to our esteemed group of participants.

Wexford, Cobh and Bray are expected to make the top-five as per our picks - while Kerry are once again selected to prop up the table.
