Bohemians get green light to redevelop Dalymount Park

Dublin City Council have agreed to a €40 million revamp of Dalymount Park.

The proposals in place are to demolish the existing stadium and build a brand-new stadium with 6,240 seats with capacity for an additional 1,794 people standing.

The plans suggest the pitch running north to south, with sand-based grass along with contemporary changing rooms and match-day facilities for teams and officials.

The Dublin 7 makeover also includes plans for a stadium bar/function room, concession areas and a multi-functional community room with an additional community gym.

There are also plans for 12 car parking spaces and 50 bicycle rack spaces.

Councillors approved the plan yesterday evening.

The Gypsies hope for works to be completed by the 2027 League of Ireland season.

The club revealed that they will require the Government to provide funding to get the project through to the construction stage.

The football club released a statement yesterday evening that said the decision “hugely significant” for the team and community around the club.

Bohemian FC COO Daniel Lambert welcomed the approval by the councillors and has called on Government to ensure appropriate funding will be in place to enable construction of the stadium.

He added: “As we have seen across capital projects with levels of inflation, any delays to the process can cause significant complications and ultimately added cost to the exchequer.”

FAI CEO Jonathan Hill thanked Dublin City Council for their decision, adding it was an “exciting step forward” for development plans at other stadiums and welcomed similar proposals to be made for other stadiums and clubs.
