St. Patrick’s Athletic sign Romal Palmer

The midfielder has joined the Inchicore outfit on loan from Turkish side Göztepe.

St. Pats have furthered strengthened their squad ahead of the league opener next weekend with the signing of Romal Palmer.

The 25-year-old spent ten years in the Manchester City academy before moving to Barnsley where he made 77 appearances in seven years.

In 2022, Palmer joined Göztepe where he has made 33 appearances for the club. However, he has fallen out of favour this season, only making six outings this term.

"I'm excited to be here at St Pat's,” said Palmer when speaking to the St. Patrick’s Athletic media team.

“Thanks so much to everyone for the welcome, it's a great club and after looking into it, I was excited about the prospect of joining.

“I'm looking forward to getting things kick-started and seeing how it goes.

“Seeing the team do so well last year and winning the club was a big part of me wanting to come here.

“I've heard a lot of things about the league, the club and the fans and I'm just excited to get going."

Manager Jon Daly on the signing of Palmer stated, “Romal is another good signing for us and we're really pleased joined the club.

"He grew up in the Manchester City Academy and played 70 games in The Championship as well as his recent spell in Turkey, so he's played lots of games at a high level.

“We feel he'll add to our squad and complement our other midfield players. Romal has been in with us for the last few days and has settled well into the group.

“We're looking forward to working with him."

Palmer will wear 17 for the Saints this season.
