First Division Longford Town have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Jack McCarthy ahead of the 2024 season.

McCarthy, 20, was previously on the books of Shelbourne and Drogheda United at underage level.

And he also lined out for Shels at senior level, keeping a clean sheet against UCD in July 2021 in a First Division clash.

McCarthy was most recently lining out for Cumberland Phoenix in the Unisted States while completing his studies.

Meanwhile, Cobh Ramblers have also added goalkeeper Cathal O'Hanlon to their ranks.

O'Hanlon has played for Munster Senior League side UCC and is a native of Cobh.

"Cathal coming in gives us good competition now in the goalkeeper position," Ramblers boss Gary Hunt said.

"He is hungry to make this step and has shown in the few weeks with us that he has what it takes to compete with Darragh for the number 1 spot.

"We are less than two weeks out from the start so this is another step closer to finalising our squad and Cathal will bring a lot of qualities to help develop the squad also."
