The Sky Sports pundit was joined by West Ham striker Michail Antonio on Monday Night Football when discussing the Irishman.

The former Liverpool star was analysing the Premier League action from last weekend and highlighted Ogbene and his stellar performances for Luton this season.

The Hatters are unbeaten in their last six games and played out a fantastic 4-4 draw against Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon where the Corkman shined once again.

Speaking on Monday Night Football ahead of Brentford and Manchester City, Carragher lavished praise on the Irish winger, calling him a “flying machine”, while complimenting his football intelligence highlighting his crossing ability along with his runs off the ball.

“There has been a lot of talk about Ross Barkley – rightly so – and could he break into the England squad for the next international break.

“When I think about Luton players who have really impressed me, he’s the one (Ogbene). Him alongside Ross Barkley, they have been fantastic. Look at that pace, that’s devastating, isn’t it?

"But for me, Chiedozie Ogbene.

"I think, has been absolutely outstanding every time I watch him.

“He has played on the wing, on the left, on the right, and at the moment he is playing at right-wing back.

“It’s not easy for a right winger normally but it shows he has got defensive capabilities as well."

When looking at his performance against Newcastle, Carragher compared Ogbene to Thierry Henry for the way he beat Dan Burn for pace.

“Listen, the reason I’m laughing is because I’ve been there. And the way Dan Burn feels at the moment having chased this fella at the weekend is the way I used to feel chasing Thierry Henry”.

Ogbene this season is the second fastest player in the Premier League, clocking up a top speed of 36.93 km/h, just behind Micky Van de Ven from Tottenham Hotspur.

Elsewhere, his Irish teammate, Troy Parrott was on the scoresheet once again in the Eredivisie on Friday night.
