Trophies the ambition for Éabha O'Mahony at Tolka Park as she is set to depart the Texas Longhorns for Shels

Éabha O'Mahony is the latest new signing made by Eoin Wearen for his Shelbourne side.

The former Cork City defender is completing her studies in America where, having been previously at Boston College, she is majoring in psycology in Texas. She will link up with the Shels squad in the coming weeks after the end of her US college season with the Texas Longhorns.

The 21-year-old joins a Shelbourne squad who finished runners up last year behind Peamount United.

"We have a fantastic team this year and I'm looking forward to playing some football on this side of the pond,” said O’Mahony on her new club’s X account.

"I can't wait to join the girls for the season and embrace the challenge. I'm looking forward to working hard and showing how I have progressed over the few years I've been away from the league.

"My ultimate objective is to achieve success in terms of winning trophies, and I'm excited about the prospect of accomplishing this ambition alongside my new teammates."

She is a four timed capped senior Ireland international having made her debut in a friendly against the United States at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, in August 2019.

Her new boss Eoin Wearen described her as “a top signing” and she will add quality to the squad he is developing with eye catching additions such as Jess Gargan and Roma McLaughlin.

“She can play in multiple positions, has fantastic quality in her left foot and is excellent both in and out of possession. Eabha has already gained a lot of experience for someone so young, both with the senior international squad and while playing at a high level collegiately in the US.

“She is a highly ambitious and driven individual and we knew very quickly into our first conversation that she would be a great fit for us and we would be a great fit for her.”
