Nottingham Forest sign goalkeeper Matz Sels from Strasbourg
Nottingham Forest has successfully signed goalkeeper Matz Sels from Strasbourg on a three-and-a-half-year contract, securing his services until the summer of 2027.
The 31-year-old Belgian international and former Strasbourg captain comes to The City Ground with a wealth of experience, having made 175 appearances for the French club.
Starting his career in Belgium with Lierse, Sels made a significant move to Gent in 2014, where he was pivotal in their Belgian championship win and their qualification for the UEFA Champions League.
His performance, including 16 clean sheets across all competitions, earned him the title of Best Goalkeeper of Belgium in 2015.
Following his time at Gent, Sels had stints with Newcastle United and Anderlecht before joining Strasbourg in 2018.
During his six years in France, he became an indispensable part of the team, contributing to their Coupe de la Ligue victory in 2019.
Sels is Nottingham Forest's third acquisition of the January transfer window after getting Rodrigo Ribeiro and Giovanni Reyna in.
