Adam Wharton switches Blackburn Rovers for Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace have secured the services of young midfielder Adam Wharton from Blackburn Rovers on a five-and-a-half-year deal.
The 19-year-old's move to south London comes after a season and a half in the Championship.
Awarded his first professional contract at his boyhood club Blackburn in May 2022, Wharton quickly made a name for himself, winning the club’s Young Player of the Year award for the 2022/23 season.
His performances not only made waves at the club level but also earned him spots in England's Under-19s and Under-20s squads.
Wharton's arrival at Crystal Palace marks the club's second winter window signing following defender Daniel Muñoz.
Chairman Steve Parish expressed his excitement about the new addition: “I’m delighted that Adam, a player whose rapid development we have followed closely, has decided to join us at Crystal Palace."
Parish highlighted the club's reputation for nurturing young talent, saying, "We believe Palace to be the perfect place to harness his undoubted potential."
Commenting on his move, Wharton said, "I've always wanted to play in the Premier League and to play for such a big club like Crystal Palace is a great honour."
He was drawn to the club's track record of developing Championship players into Premier League talents, adding, "It's a big reason why I wanted to come here."
