Italian side Como agree deal with Shamrock Rovers for Naj Razi
Italian side Como has agreed on a deal with Shamrock Rovers for Naj Razi.
The 17-year-old departs the Premier Division champions to join Serie B side Como 1907 for a significant upfront transfer fee.
Razi has been a standout performer in the Shamrock Rovers academy over the last few years and made three appearances for the men's team.
He made a substitute appearance in both legs against Ferencváros in the Europa Conference League qualifiers.
Razi earned himself a spot in Tom Mohan’s Ireland Under-19 squad for the most recent European qualifiers.
“I can’t quite believe I am here. It’s been a brilliant six months, from making my first team and UEFA Conference debut to playing in the European U17 Championships,” Razi said about the move.
“It’s exciting to be part of a big project like this, and the coaching staff is first-class.”
Caretaker Como manager Osian Roberts said, “There has been a lot of interest in this young lad, and rightly so. There is no doubt that Naj has the talent, but we have also seen that he also has the right mentality.
“He’s grounded, focused, and works hard, and we look forward to seeing how he develops here in Como.”
