Wycombe Wanderers secure Matt Butcher from Plymouth Argyle on a permanent deal
Wycombe Wanderers have successfully completed the signing of midfielder Matt Butcher, following his departure from Championship side Plymouth Argyle.
The 26-year-old played a crucial role in Plymouth's League 1 title victory last season and has already appeared 18 times in the current Championship campaign.
Butcher, a product of the Bournemouth academy, gained early experience with non-league teams Gosport and Woking.
He then made significant progress in the EFL with Yeovil, where he notably played against Wycombe during the 2016/17 season.
Following his time with Yeovil, Butcher moved to St Johnstone in Scotland before permanently joining Accrington Stanley in 2020.
His impact was immediate, as he scored at Adams Park on the opening day of the 2021/22 season and later provided an assist in the return game.
Butcher's journey led him to Plymouth, where he made 48 appearances last year.
