Victory pleases goal ace Sheppard
Karl Sheppard had a Man of the Match performance on Friday night as he
bagged a brace in Galway United's 3-2 win over Bohemians at Dalymount
Park.
The ex-Everton player scored twice in a shock win and declared himself extremely pleased with his own performance after the game.
“It was a good win, I thought we played really well as a team and we deserved it. It was a tough 90 minutes though.
“I'm pleased with my performance I thought I had a great service up to me from the team and I think we really deserved the three points,” Sheppard told Extratime.
Galway were well worth their surprising win and even Sheppard himself admits he was surprised at how the game went.
“We had a lot of the ball, a lot more than we would have expected up here anyway. We played well and thankfully we got the three points, he said.
Apart from his two goals Sheppard was involved in two key incidents towards the end of the match. First winning the penalty in the 95th minute and second being on the end of a kick-out from Raffaele Creatro, for which the Bohs player was sent off.
“[Raffaele] Cretaro took me out which I thought was needless and it was pointless really because the game was over, there's no point in doing stuff like that,” explained the 19-year-old.
The penalty decision appeared to be somewhat dubious but Sheppard was adamant it was definitely a penalty
“It was a stonewall penalty. I skipped past him and was going to take a shot with my left foot and he just took me out of it on my right side,” he explained.
