Leicester secure signing of Swedish midfielder Emilia Pelgander

Leicester Women have announced the signing of Emilia Pelgander, a promising Swedish Under-23 international, on a three-and-a-half-year contract.

The 19-year-old central midfielder joins from Damallsvenskan side KIF Örebro.

Pelgander expressed her excitement about joining LCFC Women, “I’m really excited and grateful for this opportunity. I really liked my first talks with the manager, discussing how Leicester play and the philosophy here, and I think it will be a good fit for me." 

With 22 appearances for Sweden’s Under-19s and 23s, Pelgander has been a regular in the youth international scene.

She made her league debut for KIF Örebro in July 2020 and accumulated 84 appearances for Örebro in her four years there.

Following a significant 2023 season with 25 appearances for KIF Örebro, Pelgander is set to join her new teammates as Leicester prepare for their upcoming match against Everton.

Pelgander also shared insights into her discussions with manager Willie Kirk, “He likes that I’m aggressive and ambitious and want to become a better footballer.”

She added, “The main goal is to get into the team and get as much playing time as I can, so that I can improve myself and hopefully the team with it.”
