Manchester City confirm signing of Argentinian youngster Claudio Echeverri until 2028
18-year-old Argentinian midfielder Claudio Echeverri has signed with Manchester City for a fee of approximately £12.5 million, including add-ons, until the summer of 2028.
He joins from the Argentine Premier Division side River Plate, where he spent one season.
Born in 2006, Echeverri made six appearances for the Buenos Aires club under the management of former City defender Martin Demichelis.
He also captained Argentina to the semi-finals of the Under-17 World Cup last winter.
Having turned 18 earlier this month, Echeverri, who has trained with the senior national team, scored a hat-trick in a 3-0 quarter-final victory over Brazil. However, his team lost to Germany in the semi-finals on penalties.
Echeverri will remain at River Plate until the end of 2024 before transferring overseas to join the treble winners.
