Ed McGinty returns to Sligo Rovers
The 24-year-old shot-stopper is back at The Showgrounds on loan until the end of June after a spell with League One side Oxford United.
McGinty’s return to Sligo Rovers is a huge boost for the club after a disappointing campaign last season.
His replacement Luke McNicholas left the Showgrounds yesterday to sign for Wrexham for an undisclosed fee.
He was the star man between the posts for the Bit O’Red before his departure to Oxford in July 2022 where he made just 10 appearances for the U's.

Sligo Manager John Russell expressed his delight at the return of the Scottish-born goalkeeper having fought off stiff opposition from league rivals.
“It’s brilliant to get the deal done. Ed is a massive presence both on and off the pitch,” said Russell.
“He’s a quality goalkeeper as everyone knows, but he brings a lot more than that to the squad.
“I know there were a number of clubs in for him which is understandable given his quality, but he still has that desire to play for this club which is what makes him such a fan favourite”.
McGinty will likely make his second debut for Sligo Rovers away to Bohemian's in the league opener.
His last game for the club was a penalty shootout win against Welsh side Bala Town in the Europa Conference League in 2022.
