Brandon Barker and Kayden Harrack join Morecambe for the 2023/24 season
Morecambe have announced the signing of winger Brandon Barker on a deal until the end of the 2023/24 campaign.
Barker, a product of the Manchester City academy, joins the club with a wealth of experience from various teams, including a stint at Rangers.
The 27-year-old began his journey at Manchester City at the age of eight and made his competitive debut in a 2016 FA Cup match against Chelsea.
During his time at Etihad, Barker was loaned out to several clubs, including Rotherham, NAC Breda, Hibs, and Preston North End.
After leaving Manchester City in 2019, Barker joined Scottish Premiership giants Rangers, where he won a league title.
His career also includes time at Oxford United, Reading, and Omonia Nikosia in Cyprus.
Barker, who has also represented England 15 times at youth level, expressed his excitement about joining Morecambe: “I'm absolutely delighted... The boys are doing well this year... so hopefully I can bring my experience in and help the team climb the table.”
He added, “I look to be direct, hopefully hit the ground running and become much sharper over the coming games. Hopefully, I'll excite [the fans].”
In another development, defender Kayden Harrack has also joined Morecambe until the end of the season.
The 20-year-old, who came through the ranks at Brentford and later moved to QPR, has gained experience up to the U21s level and has represented Grenada nine times, teaming up with Shrimps’ defender Jacob Bedeau.
Harrack, primarily a centre-back with the ability to play at right-back, shared his enthusiasm.
“I'm over the moon!... I only heard positive things from Jacob [Bedeau], which was definitely a factor in coming in... I'd describe myself as aggressive, defensive minded, passionate and I'll leave everything on the pitch every week.”
