Treaty United make landmark double signing
Treaty United have signed Darren Nwankwo and Robbie Lynch making them the first players from the club's academy to sign on professional terms.
The two Limerick men made their senior debuts for The Shannonsiders last season having developed through the club's academy structures.
Manager Tommy Barrett has high hopes for the pair on the back of their promising first season in the men's game.
“Robbie and Darren are two young local players that got plenty of experience last year and did very well, and we’re hoping they can continue to develop this year,” he said.
“They’re two really good young players and at 17 and 18 they are only going to get better.”
Club CEO Ciara McCormack also expressed her delight at the club reaching this milestone.
“We’re really excited to have Darren and Robbie become the first academy players that we’ve ever signed to part-time pro contracts, we said coming in that we will be focusing on and building the youth players in the club, and this is an important first step to follow through with that commitment,” he said.
“Both players have shown immense potential and ability, and we are looking forward to seeing where the next few years take them.”
Treaty United open their 2024 first division campaign against Cobh Ramblers at Markets Field on the 16th February.
