Bohemians will be looking to bounce back from their first league
defeat of the season when they welcome Galway United and former
manager Sean Connor to Dalymount Park on Friday night (kick-off
7.35).
Galway secured a very respectable 2-2 draw at home to Sporting Fingal last week but could go into Friday's game with the prospect of having to start a left-back in goal.
Regular net minder Barry Ryan is on the injured list along with reserve keeper Seamus Friel and if the FAI don't allow the Tribesmen to sign a keeper in time, they will be forced to start Rhys Meynell in goal.
Speaking to the Irish Daily Mirror Connor said: “We hoped to sign a keeper ahead of the Derry game, but the FAI wouldn't let it go through, and we hope the situation can be resolved ahead of Friday now.”
Bohs suffered a 1-0 defeat to arch-rivals Shamrock Rovers last week, and despite admitting he wasn't too disappointed with the derby result, Pat Fenlon will surely be looking for a positive response from his players against Galway.
“I was disappointed with the result but with not the performance. I felt we didn’t deserve to lose the game, although we probably didn’t deserve to win either,” said the Bohs boss.
Galway travelled to Derry for their League Cup encounter with only 11 fit players and their injury crisis looks set to continue ahead of their visit to Dalymount. However, one plus for Sean Connor is that ex- Bohs player Stephen O'Donnell should be fit to face his former club.
Bohemians won all four games against Galway last season and will need to do the same if the want to have any chance of being top of the league at full-time on Friday night.
Galway on the other hand will be looking to take whatever they can from the game considering their overwhelming injury concerns.
Any time Sean Connor has come up against his former side it has proved to be a feisty affair, but it looks as if Galway may lack the bit to overcome the league champions tomorrow night.
