Week 7

This is another weekend of league action disrupted by the Setanta Cup. Having seen the teams Sligo have put out so far in the competition it's definitely best to ignore that game from a betting perspective as the tie appears all but over in any case and with Pat's in league action in Bray on Tuesday night they too may decide to rest a few of their key players too.

The live offering this week is Sean Connor's trip to his old club Bohemians where he's sure to get another hostile reception. His team are unlikely to do any better given the recent history with the Gypsies, Bohs have beaten United nine times in a row in the league and even with Anto Flood impressing since he's joined it's hard to see past Bohs making it ten, but at short odds on it may be worth leaving alone as their current form isn't the best.

Shamrock Rovers on the other hand should be able to build on their win against Bohs with another three points at Hunky Dory Park. Gary Twigg made his long awaited return from injury, and although Drogs have managed two clean sheets in a row, by all accounts they were very lucky to get the win at St Pat's last week and were brought back down to earth with a League Cup defeat to Bray. Rovers should have gained confidence from the derby win and should have enough to take the points here.

In the other Premier Division match, league leaders Dundalk travel to take on Sporting Fingal in Morton Stadium, as with so many teams in the league these sides seem very evenly matched and too tight to call.

In the First Division, it could be worth betting that there will be three or more goals in Longford v Mervue on Saturday evening. Both defence’s have been leaking goals recently and both sides will surely see this as an opportunity to get their season up and running with a win.

Punter's Picks:
Shamrock Rovers to beat Drogheda - 5/10
Over 2.5 goals in Longford v Mervue - 3/10
