Forest Green Rovers welcome goalkeeper Tommy Simkin & defender Dominic Thompson on loan
Forest Green Rovers have strengthened their squad with the addition of two loan signings, goalkeeper Tommy Simkin from Stoke City and defender Dominic Thompson from Blackpool, both until the end of the season.
Simkin, after impressing during a loan spell at Solihull Moors, was recalled by Stoke City and made his Championship debut in December, earning the Player of the Match title against Sheffield Wednesday.
"I’m delighted to be here... I’m a passionate player. I want to win," Simkin stated.
Troy Deeney, Head Coach of Rovers, praised the young goalkeeper's potential.
"Tommy is the type of profile that only comes up once every five or six years," said Deeney.
Dominic Thompson, a left-sided player who began his career at Arsenal, has joined from Blackpool, where he made 11 appearances this season.
Thompson has previously played for Brentford, including their first Premier League campaign, and went on loan to Swindon Town and Ipswich Town.
"It’s great to be here... the gaffer’s one of the biggest influences in me making this move," Thompson said about the discussions with Deeney.
Deeney expressed his fortune in securing Thompson's services, noting, "He’s Championship quality... We’re really excited to have him."
